How to Set Up Digital
Signage on DigitalTag
DigitalTag is a DOOH (Digital Out-of-Home) advertising marketplace. Publishers add and manage screens, Advertisers discover and book them through an interactive map, and Agencies manage multi-client campaigns — all in one platform.

In this guide you will learn how to:
Step 1 — Register & Verify Your Organization
Before you can book screens or publish inventory, your organization needs to be verified. After registering, you will go through a 3-step onboarding process:
1. Verify Email
A verification link is sent to your contact email at registration. Click it to confirm your address.
2. Upload KYC
Upload your PAN card and registered address proof (required). GST certificate is optional. PDF or image, max 5 MB each.
3. DigitalTag Verification
Our team reviews your organization and documents. You'll receive an email when your status changes to Verified.
Note
You can track your progress at any time from the Onboarding page. Your progress is saved automatically.
Step 2 — Add a Screen in 5 Steps
Go to Screens → New Screen. The screen wizard walks you through 5 steps:
Identity
Enter the screen name, a unique screen code (auto-generated), select the organization, screen type (e.g. LED Billboard, LCD Panel), and venue category.
Technical
Choose orientation (landscape or portrait), select a resolution preset or enter custom width × height in pixels, and enter the physical display size in centimeters.
Location
Pin the screen on the interactive Google Map by searching for an address or clicking the map. Fill in city, state, and pincode. The timezone is auto-detected.
Business
Set the daily rate (price per day), estimated daily impressions, daily footfall, and optional context tags (e.g. "mall", "highway").
Visuals
Upload screen photos. The first image becomes the cover photo shown to advertisers. You can reorder images by dragging.
What happens next?
After saving, you will be taken to the screen's onboarding page where you can pair it with a physical player device using a pairing code.
Step 3 — Connect Your Physical Display
Once your screen is created, go to the screen detail page and click Pair Device. A pairing code is generated. Enter this code on your DigitalTag Player app running on the display device (Android, Raspberry Pi, or any supported media player).
Pair Your Screen
1. Go to your screen detail page
2. Click Pair Device and enter the code shown on your display.
Once paired, the player will:
- Automatically fetch the assigned layout and campaign creatives
- Send a heartbeat every few minutes so the platform knows the screen is online
- Report playback events (proof of play) back to the platform in real time
Screen Health
Screen health is shown as Healthy, Warning, or Critical based on heartbeat timing. If a screen goes offline, you will receive an in-app notification.
Step 4 — Launch a Campaign in 4 Steps
Go to Campaigns → New Campaign. The campaign wizard has 4 steps:
Campaign Details
Enter the campaign name, brand name, start date, end date, ad duration (in seconds, default 10s), objective, and category.
Select Screens (Map)
An interactive map shows all available screens. Search by location, filter by map view, sort by price, click a pin to see details and available slots, and add screen regions to your cart.
Upload Creatives
Upload your ad creative (image or video) for each booked region. Supported formats: JPEG, PNG, WebP for images; MP4, WebM for video.
Review & Submit
Review your booking summary including all placements, total days, slot counts, subtotal, and grand total. Submit the campaign for QC review.
Step 5 — QC Review Process
After submitting, your campaign moves to Submitted status. The DigitalTag QC team reviews your content, targeting, and compliance. Possible outcomes:
QC Approved
Campaign is approved and will go live automatically on the start date.
Rework Required
Changes are needed; you will receive notes explaining what to fix. Update and resubmit.
Rejected
Campaign does not meet compliance standards. You will receive a rejection reason by email.
You will receive an email notification for every QC decision. Average review time is under 24 hours.
Step 6 — Your Campaign is Now Live
Once approved, your campaign automatically transitions to Live status on the start date (checked every 5 minutes). You will receive a "Campaign is Live" email notification.
While live, you can:
- Pause the campaign at any time — it stops playing immediately and can be resumed
- Monitor playback in real time from the Reports section
- View proof of play — timestamped logs confirming when and where each ad was displayed
The campaign automatically moves to Completed status after the end date passes.
Step 7 — Assign Layouts & Manage Content
Publishers control what plays on their screens through Screen Layouts. A layout divides the screen into one or more bookable regions — for example, a main video area and a bottom banner strip.
Each region has:
- Its own pixel dimensions
- An independent ad slot capacity (e.g. 6 slots in a 60-second loop)
- Its own pricing
How it works
Go to Screen Layouts to create or edit layouts. Assign a layout to a screen from the screen detail page. The player fetches the layout automatically and begins serving booked campaigns to the correct regions.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I add a new screen?
Go to Screens → New Screen and complete the 5-step wizard: Identity, Technical, Location, Business, Visuals.
What media formats are supported?
Images: JPEG, PNG, WebP. Videos: MP4, WebM. Allowed types are configured by the platform admin in System Settings.
How does QC review work?
Submit your campaign → status becomes "Submitted" → QC team reviews → you get an email with the decision (Approved / Rework / Rejected).
Can I schedule campaigns for specific times?
Yes. Set start and end dates when creating the campaign. Screen operating hours are controlled by the screen's scheduler (set by the publisher).
How do I add team members?
Go to Users → click Add User, enter their email, assign a role, and set their organization.
What is the difference between a layout and a resolution?
A resolution defines the screen's pixel dimensions (e.g. 1920×1080). A layout divides that screen area into bookable ad regions, each with its own size and pricing.
How do I track if my ads are playing?
Go to Reports → Playback to see timestamped proof-of-play logs showing exactly when each creative was displayed on each screen.
Can I pause a live campaign?
Yes. Open the campaign → click Pause. It stops immediately and can be resumed at any time.
